The short version
Take One: Vocal Studio does not have user accounts, does not upload your recordings to our servers for processing or storage, and does not send your video, audio, projects or lyrics to us. Recording, AI stem separation, mixing, pitch editing, captions, mastering and export all run on your iPhone. Everything you make stays in the app's storage on your device until you delete it or share it yourself. We use Google Firebase Analytics for anonymous usage data only — not linked to your identity, not used for tracking. You can turn that off in the App under Settings → Privacy.
Section 01Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Take One: Vocal Studio (the "App") handles information. The App is developed and published by Barak Scharovsky, an individual developer based in Hatzanchanim 21, Hod Hasharon, Israel ("we", "us", "the developer").
The App is an iPhone recording studio. You record or import a performance, on-device AI separates it into vocal and instrumental parts, and you mix, tune, caption, master and export the result. It was designed so that the private work of making music stays private — which is why your recordings can be processed on your device without being uploaded for processing.
This policy applies to the App itself and to the website at take-one.studio. It does not apply to Apple's services, or to any third-party app or service you choose to share your finished work with. By using the App you agree to this policy.
Section 02Information We Collect
We do not collect your recordings or any content you create in the App. There is no account to create, no profile, and no upload of your media. Anonymous usage analytics, described below, do not include your audio, video, lyrics or project files.
| Video and audio recordings | Created and stored on your device only. Never transmitted to us. |
|---|---|
| Imported media | Read from Photos or Files with your permission, copied into the App's own storage on your device. Never transmitted to us. |
| Separated stems, mixes and masters | Generated on your device. Never transmitted to us. |
| Caption and lyric text | Transcribed on your device from your audio. Never transmitted to us. |
| Project settings (fader levels, effects, tuning edits, caption styles) | Stored on your device alongside the project. Never transmitted to us. |
| Name, email address, phone number, contacts | Not requested and not collected by the App. |
| Location | Not requested and not collected. The App does not use location services. |
| Usage data (product interaction) | Collected via Google Firebase Analytics. Used for Analytics only. Not linked to your identity. Not used for tracking. |
| Device ID (app instance ID) | Collected via Google Firebase Analytics. An anonymous identifier used for Analytics only. Not linked to your identity. Not used for tracking. |
| Advertising identifiers | Not used. The App contains no advertising, does not use IDFA, and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. Google Firebase Analytics is used for in-app usage analytics only, as described below. |
| Payment details | Never seen by us. Any purchase is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. |
Analytics
Take One processes all your audio and video entirely on your device. We do not upload your recordings, projects or media to any server.
To improve the App, we use Google Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage data:
- Product interaction (usage data). How features are used — for example which screens are viewed, and when a recording or export starts and completes. This is not analytics of what you record: the events do not include your audio, video, lyrics or project files.
- Device identifier. An anonymous app instance ID. It is not linked to your name, email or any other identity, and it is not an advertising identifier.
This data is used for Analytics only. It is not linked to any personal identity, is not used for advertising or tracking, and is never sold or shared with data brokers. Google processes these events as our analytics provider. We do not collect your name, email, contacts, precise location, or any account information.
You can turn analytics off at any time in the App under Settings → Privacy.
Information Apple may provide to us
Two categories of information can reach us indirectly, through Apple, and only in a form that does not identify you:
- Crash and performance diagnostics. If you have turned on Share With App Developers in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, Apple may share crash logs and performance data with us. These reports describe what the software was doing when it failed. They do not contain your audio, video, lyrics or project files.
- App Store metrics. Apple provides aggregate, anonymised sales and usage figures — installs by territory, App Store impressions, crash counts, ratings and reviews. We cannot identify individual users from these.
You can stop the first category at any time by turning off analytics sharing in iOS Settings. The second is provided by Apple in aggregate and is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.
Information you send us directly
If you email us for support, we receive whatever you choose to put in that email — typically your email address, your message, your device model and iOS version, and any file or screenshot you attach. We use it only to answer you. See Data Retention for how long we keep it.
Section 03Permissions We Use
iOS asks for your permission before the App can use the camera, microphone or your photo library. You can grant, deny or revoke each of these at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security, or in Settings → Take One. Each permission is requested only at the moment a feature needs it, and each is used only for the purpose described below.
Camera
Used to record video of your performance. The camera is active only while you are on the recording screen and only while a take is running. Video captured this way is written to the App's own storage on your device. It is not streamed, uploaded or previewed anywhere outside the App.
If you decline camera access, you can still import existing videos and work with audio, but you cannot record new video in the App.
Microphone
Used to capture the audio of your performance while recording, and to drive the live input meter and gain controls so you can set a level before you commit to a take. Audio is captured only during an active recording session or while the recording screen's meter is live. It is written to your device and processed there.
If you decline microphone access, the App cannot record. Recording requires it.
Photos
Used for two separate things, which iOS treats as two separate permissions:
- Reading — so you can import a video you have already shot into the App. iOS lets you grant access to your entire library or to selected items only; selected-items access is fully supported and is the more private choice. We read only the item you pick.
- Adding — so that when you export a finished video, it can be saved to your camera roll. This is used only at the moment you choose to save, and only for the file you are exporting.
The App does not scan, index, catalogue or analyse your photo library. It does not read items you have not selected.
Local network, contacts, calendars, health, motion
The App does not request any of these and does not use them.
Section 04On-Device AI Processing
The App uses on-device machine-learning technology for vocal/instrumental separation and caption transcription. Processing takes place on the iPhone rather than sending your media to a cloud service.
Caption transcription uses the on-device speech recognition provided by iOS. In both cases your audio stays on your device, and the results are written back to your device.
Because of this:
- No audio, video or text is sent to us, or to any third party, for AI processing.
- The App works with no internet connection. Airplane mode does not reduce what it can do.
- Nothing you record is used to train, fine-tune, evaluate or improve any machine-learning model.
- Because processing takes place on the device, your recordings are not sent to a remote service for processing.
Processing time and battery use can vary depending on the iPhone model and the length of the recording.
Section 05No User Accounts
The App does not require an account, sign-in or profile. There is no sign-up, no username, no password and no user profile. You do not need an account of any kind to use any feature.
We do not use Sign in with Apple, social logins, email links or any other identity system.
The App does not use advertising identifiers, does not use device fingerprinting, and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. For anonymous in-app analytics it uses a Firebase app instance ID, which is not linked to your identity and which you can turn off in Settings → Privacy. See Analytics.
Section 06No Cloud Processing of Recordings
TakeOne does not upload your recordings to our servers for processing or storage. There is no upload step in the creative workflow, and no background sync of your media to us.
To be precise about what this does and does not mean:
- We do not receive your content. Not for separation, not for captions, not for mastering, not for backup, not for diagnostics.
- iCloud is Apple's, not ours. If you have iOS backup or iCloud Photos enabled, iOS may include App data or exported videos in your own encrypted iCloud backup, under your own Apple Account. That is a feature of your device that you control in iOS Settings. We have no access to it and no visibility into it.
- Sharing is your action. If you export a file and send it somewhere — AirDrop, Messages, a cloud drive, a social platform — that transfer is initiated by you and governed by the receiving service's terms and privacy policy, not ours.
Section 07Local Storage
Your recordings, imported media, separated stems, mixdowns, project settings, caption text and exported files are stored inside the App's own container on your iPhone. That container is protected by iOS app sandboxing: other apps cannot read it, and it is covered by your device's file-level encryption whenever the device is locked with a passcode, Face ID or Touch ID.
The App also stores small preference values — such as your last-used export format or caption style — in the standard iOS preferences store on your device. These contain no personal information and no media.
Nothing in the App's storage is readable by us.
Section 08Exporting and Sharing
Export is always something you start. The App writes the file you asked for — video, mixdown, separate stems, or a caption file — and then hands it to the standard iOS share sheet or saves it where you choose.
Once a file leaves the App, it is outside our control and outside this policy. In particular:
- Saving to Photos places the file in your library, where your own iCloud Photos settings apply.
- Saving to Files places it wherever you select, including third-party cloud providers you have connected to Files.
- AirDrop sends it directly to a device you pick, peer to peer.
- Sending it to a messaging or social app hands it to that company, under their terms.
Please review the privacy policy of any service you share your work with. If your recording contains someone else's voice, image or performance, make sure you have their agreement before you publish it — see the Terms of Use.
Section 09Data Retention
Your content: kept on your device for as long as you keep it. Deleting a take or a project in the App removes its files from the App's storage. Deleting the App removes its entire container, including every project inside it. Neither action affects files you already exported to Photos or Files, and neither affects any backup you may hold — those are yours to manage.
We hold no copy of your content at any point, so there is nothing for us to retain or delete on your behalf.
Support email: if you write to us, we keep the correspondence for as long as needed to resolve your issue and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you follow up — normally no longer than 24 months — then delete it. You may ask us to delete it sooner at any time.
Crash diagnostics from Apple: retained by us only as long as useful for fixing the underlying defect. These contain no personal content.
Analytics events: held by Google Firebase according to that service's retention settings. They stop being sent when you turn analytics off in Settings → Privacy. They do not contain your recordings or other content.
Section 10Security
TakeOne minimises the amount of personal and creative data that needs to leave your device.
- We do not receive your recordings or creative content, so they are not in transit to us and are not stored on our infrastructure.
- Files live inside the iOS app sandbox and inherit iOS file protection, which encrypts them at rest when the device is locked.
- The App holds no credentials, tokens or keys belonging to you, because it has no account system.
- The website is served over HTTPS.
The most important security measures for your work are the ones you control: use a device passcode, keep iOS up to date, and think before you share an export. No method of electronic storage or transmission is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security — but we can and do minimise how much there is to secure.
Section 11Children's Privacy
Take One: Vocal Studio is a music production tool intended for a general audience and is rated accordingly on the App Store. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 — or under 16 where that is the applicable age of digital consent.
Because the App has no accounts, no advertising and no tracking, it does not gather names, emails or other identity information from children through normal use. Anonymous usage analytics, if enabled, are not linked to identity and are not used to profile children; they can be turned off in Settings → Privacy. The App does not contain social features, chat, user-to-user messaging or links to external content within the app experience.
If a child uses the App, everything they record stays on the device. Parents and guardians should be aware that exporting and sharing a recording sends it outside the App, and should supervise that step. We recommend Screen Time restrictions for younger users.
If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, contact us at support@take-one.studio and we will delete it promptly.
Section 12Your Rights
Privacy laws including the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended (CCPA/CPRA), and Israel's Protection of Privacy Law give you rights over personal data held about you. Those rights include access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, objection, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them.
In practice, the App's design means we hold almost nothing to which those rights could attach:
- Access and portability — your content is already in your possession, on your device, in standard formats you can export at any time.
- Deletion — you can delete any project in the App, or delete the App to remove everything at once. We hold no copy to delete.
- Correction, restriction and objection — these apply to support correspondence you sent us, and to turning off analytics in the App.
- Sale or sharing of personal information — we do not sell or share personal information for advertising, and never have. We do not use it for cross-context behavioural advertising. You can turn analytics off at any time in the App under Settings → Privacy.
To exercise any right regarding support correspondence, email support@take-one.studio from the address you contacted us on. We will respond within 30 days.
Where GDPR applies, our lawful basis for handling support email is legitimate interest in answering you; our processing of Apple-provided crash diagnostics rests on legitimate interest in fixing defects; and our processing of Firebase Analytics usage data rests on legitimate interest in improving the App, which you can opt out of in Settings → Privacy. If you are in the EEA or UK you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority. If you are in Israel, you may contact the Privacy Protection Authority.
Section 13Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy if the App changes or if the law requires it. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and publish the new version here.
If a change materially reduces the protection this policy describes — for example, if a future version of the App were ever to introduce an optional feature that transmits your recordings or other content — we will say so clearly in the App before that feature is used, and it will require your explicit consent. Continuing to use the App after a change means you accept the revised policy.
Previous versions are available on request from support@take-one.studio.
Section 14Contact
Questions about this policy, or about privacy in the App, go to a person, not a ticket queue.
